Average near-East crustal velocities between summer 2015 and summer 2018. These velocities indicate velocities in the East direction. However, they could be slightly influence by velocities along the North and Up directions and are therefore called near-East. Near-East velocities were derived by decomposing the line-of-sight velocities of six Sentinel-1 interferometric time-series covering Iceland. These time-series used a single master approach and Sentinel-1 images from the following summers (mid-June to end of September): 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018. The near-East velocity grid has a 50 m resolution.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This repository includes orthorectified and mosaicked historical aerial images from all over Iceland. The datasets are created from historical aerial images on film from the years 1974, 1994 - 2000 from the aerial photograph collection of the NLSI (https://gatt.lmi.is/geonetwork/srv/ice/catalog.search#/metadata/d2323e18-ab9f-495d-8a4e-58c2a5fb096e). Each mosaic is created from images taken on the same day at approximately the same height. The resolution of the mosaics is usually 50 cm. The historical photographs have been processed using automated methods of detection of points of interest (control points?) using the Maxar mosaic (https://gatt.lmi.is/geonetwork/srv/ice/catalog.search#/metadata/e542c260-6431-48a5-8065-93350b8cb3a1)) followed by a refined correction of the cameras using the IslandsDEM (https://gatt.lmi.is/geonetwork/srv/ice/catalog.search#/metadata/e6712430-a63c-4ae5-9158-c89d16da6361) as reference. For each block of historical photographs, an accurate Digital Elevation Model (DEM) is created (where the vertical accuracy is typically better than 1 m), which is used to orthorectify the aerial photographs. The estimated horizontal accuracy of the orthorectified aerial imagery is better than 2 meters.

This raster dataset is a visibility analysis of several wind turbine projects across Iceland which are a part of the fifth phase of the master plan (Rammaáætlun http://www.ramma.is/). The area analysed is a 45 km buffer zone around each wind turbine project. The cutout areas in the 45 km buffer have no visibility due to visual obstruction. The red colour represents high visibility, fading into yellow, with the green colour representing low visibility of the wind turbines. Zones of theoretical visibility have been classified as near (0-2km), intermediate (2-15km) and remote zone (>15km) which are represented in the colour grading. It should be considered that atmospheric conditions, lighting, shading and more affect visibility and detectability. The perception of the wind projects in the green zone will be more fading in the landscape without direct detection, while in the red coloured zone the wind turbine is a prominent element in the landscape. For further information consider reading the respective chapter in the project report or check out further tools like the Ramma 3D map. As a digital elevation model the 10x10 m resolution ÍslandsDEM is used which sets the dataset pixel resolution to 10x10 m. An average viewer height of 1.75 m is assumed, while the wind turbine heights vary between 150 m and 200 m depending on project sites. The maximal height of the wind turbine is considered, meaning to the upper blade tip. See more information in the table on the side. The curvature of the earth is considered in the simulation and a default atmospheric refraction of 0.13 is assumed.

Sjá niðurstöður vetrarfuglatalninga: https://www.natt.is/is/vetrarfuglatalningar-nidurstodur English: Winter bird counts are one of the longest-running continuous monitoring efforts in Iceland and the one that covers the greatest number of bird species. From the beginning, this work has been carried out by volunteers, with around a hundred people participating. The counts take place on fixed dates around the New Year. The aim of the winter bird counts is to collect information on the number and distribution of birds during the winter. The counts are standardized and are used to monitor individual populations.
