Þetta gagnasafn inniheldur punktbundnar upplýsingar um vistgerðir og er fyrst og fremst ætlað sem vinnugagn til skoðunar, myndrænnar framsetningar og almennrar notkunar. Gagnasafnið er gert aðgengilegt „eins og það er“ og telst ekki vera opinbert né staðfest gagnasett. Engin ábyrgð er tekin er varðar heilleika, nákvæmni, tímasamræmi eða hæfi gagnanna til tiltekinnar notkunar.

Hver færsla táknar kortlagðan athugunarpunkt vistgerðar ásamt lýsandi upplýsingum. Flokkun vistgerða byggir á kerfi sem er sambærilegt EUNIS-vistgerðaflokkuninni og er kóðinn skráður í dálkinn code. Heiti vistgerða eru gefin upp bæði á íslensku vistgerd og ensku habitat. Einnig eru skráðar víðtækari íslenskar flokkanir vistgerða á landi í dálknum vistlendi, sem endurspeglar yfirflokka vistgerða eins og þeir eru almennt notaðir í íslensku vistfræðilegu samhengi. Dálkurinn tegund gefur til kynna gerð umhverfis, þ.e. land, ferskvatn eða fjöru.

Staðfræðilegar upplýsingar eru geymdar sem punktar geom. Tímasetning dags gefur til kynna áætlaða dagsetningu sem tengist gagnasöfnun eða túlkun. Dagsetningin er oft ónákvæm eða almenn; ef upplýsingar um dag eða mánuð vantar getur tímamerkið miðast við upphaf mánaðar eða árs. Því ber að túlka dags sem leiðbeinandi fremur en nákvæma dagsetningu.

Þar sem við á eru tenglar í utanaðkomandi heimildir skráðir. Dálkurinn url_is vísar á viðeigandi lýsingar vistgerða hjá Náttúrufræðistofnun. Myndefni getur verið til staðar í img_example, sem sýnir dæmigerða mynd af vistgerð, og img, sem getur innihaldið mynd af tilteknum athugunarpunkti; þessir dálkar eru þó oft tómir.

Hverri vistgerð er úthlutað lit í hex color eingöngu í kortagerðar- og myndrænum tilgangi og hefur liturinn enga merkingu umfram framsetningu.

Gagnasafnið er ætlað til notkunar í rannsóknum, fræðslu og könnunargreiningu. Notendur bera sjálfir ábyrgð á mati á gæðum gagnanna og því hvort þau henti viðkomandi notkun.

This dataset provides point-based information on habitat types, primarily intended as a working dataset for exploration, visualization, and general use.

It is made available “as is” and does not constitute an official or authoritative product.

No guarantees are given regarding completeness, accuracy, temporal consistency, or suitability for any specific purpose.

Each record represents a mapped habitat observation point with associated descriptive attributes. Habitat classification, similar to the EUNIS habitat coding system, is provided in the field code. Habitat names are supplied in both Icelandic vistgerd and English habitat. In addition, broader Icelandic habitat groupings are included through vistlendi, which represents overarching habitat categories commonly used in national ecological contexts. The field tegund indicates the main Icelandic environment type, such as terrestrial, freshwater, or coastal/shore habitats.

Spatial information is stored as point geometry geom. The temporal attribute dags provides an approximate date related to data collection or interpretation. This date is often incomplete or generalized; when day or month information is missing, the timestamp may default to the beginning of the month or year. As such, dags should be interpreted as indicative rather than precise.

Where available, links to external reference material are included. The field url_is points to relevant habitat descriptions hosted by Náttúrufræðistofnun. Visual context may be provided through img_example, which shows a representative image of the habitat type, and img, which may contain an image of the specific observation point; these fields are frequently empty.

A hexadecimal color value color is assigned to each habitat type for cartographic and visualization purposes only and carries no semantic meaning beyond styling.

This dataset is intended to support research, education, and exploratory analysis. Users are responsible for evaluating data quality and appropriateness for their own applications.
