Raised shorelines – Late Glacial Marine Limits
A geospatial data layer (polygons) showing the potential extent of the Late Glacial Marine Limits, based on the data layer Raised shoreline (lines) and Surveyed altitude (point). Marine Limits vary across the country, reflecting differences in glacier positions at the end of the last glaciation and the preservation of raised shorelines. The map viewer displays two types of visualisation: an overall overview of Late Glacial Marine Limits (shown in a single colour) and Marine Limits classified according to difference in surveyed altitude (shown by using a colour scale). There is a data gap along the South coast, between Markarfljót and Jökulsárlón, where no evidence of raised shorelines has yet been identified.
